RE: Seasonal Camping This Year
You're very lucky your site is 10 minutes from home, ours is 1.5 hrs away, still not too bad. We're still getting things together and this is our 4rth year into it, we'll start the season 2 weeks from now when the water is turned on.
Some of the things we have to have are a small shed for storage (Rubbermaid), lawn mower even though they mow sometimes it's been raining and they couldn't. We bought a used one for $40. Also, we have a picnic table we built from a kit. Also, we found an old cable spool, bought one of those cheap plastic patio tables and screwed the top to the top of the spool, won't ever blow away. We bungee the plastic chairs to the bumper before we leave. Also, a shovel comes in handy for many things, one is cleaning out the firepit occasionally. We built a firepit with large rocks we got at a quarry.
For inside, we keep DVDS, board games and cards, etc...for rainy days and evenings outside. We also keep balls and bats and stuff in the shed for the kids. I also have a toaster oven I keep in the kitchen that we use ALOT, for small pizzas, biscuits in the morning...We keep all toiletries up there, so we don't drag back and forth every week, as well as extra pillows and blankets, all we bring is clothes and some food. We also keep canned food in the pantry, and the little bowl things of spaghettios and and the like that we can heat in the microwave. This has saved DH a few times when he's gone up by himself and didn't bother to bring food :R. I could go on and on but you get the idea ;).
We're heading up to ours for the day Saturday to bring alot of things for the start of the season, we'll get it stocked and ready to go for when the water turns on and the fun begins. I love talking to all the "neighbors" after not seeing them all winter, very exciting!
RE: How did you get started in RVing/ Camping?
I've been camping as long as I can remember. My Dad worked for the Corps of Engineers until retirement so we always stayed in Corps camgrounds. We stayed in a tent but had a shell on the back of the pickup for storage, great memories. In high school I camped with friends, DH and I have tent camped together since we met.
We started taking our oldest son tent camping when he was 2, youngest son was just an infant his first trip. About 4 years ago we decided we needed a place at the lake so we could go boating more often. Our neighbors have a trailer on a seasonal spot up there, that's where we ended up. Rented the spot firt, then found a trailer. Last year we got our brand new PUMA we ordered from the factory :B. I always wanted my dad to buy a camper as a kid, I still feel like a kid everytime we go up and stay for the weekend (darn near every weekend April-October). One of these days I want to get a TV and take it on the road!
camping in Missouri and Ill
Saw this in the local paper this morning. Our trailer is on a seasonal site at Mark Twain......

RE: Woo Hoo!! Ordered new 2008 TT today!!
We LOVE our 2007 PUMA 29-FKSS, good luck! We ordered from the factory in January last year and took delivery at the dealer on St. Pat's day, seemed like a long wait, but well worth it! Enjoy!
RE: Camping World - Springfield Missouri?
Oh no, St. Louis Mills is near my place of employment, I go there for lunch sometimes. And Wentzville? even more trouble, that's on the way to our trailer and our seasonal spot!
snow and the slideout, question
We got a new trailer in March '07, fist time we've had a slideout. We keep it parked on a seasonal site, it never moves. We kept the slide out all season until we winterized, it was sunny and dry that day when we put it in.
We would like to go up for a night one weekend to check on things and get away :D, but EVERY weekend it seems to be raining or mostly snowing up there. Therefore, we haven't gone up there because we're afraid for the slide to get snow on the roof, because we'd have to clean it off best we could before we put the slide in when we leave on Sunday. Should we be worried about some snow/moisture being up there when we put it back in? :h Thanks
RE: Anyone Notice Lack of Front Windows?
Our 2007 PUMA has a front window, it's a front kitchen, a window was a must for me. We looked at models without, too closed in for me.....
RE: Winter Blues - I want to go CAMPING
We're hoping for some dry weather between Christmas and New Years so we can head up to the seasonal site for a night. DH, the kids and I are all home together the whole week :D
The water is turned off for the season, we'll bring a 5 gallon jug and porta potty, plug her in, put out the slide, turn on the gas and the furnace, make a fire in the fire pit.....:p now I'm daydreaming. It's going to be another long winter :(
RE: How did you come up with your forum name??
Because we love all our toys that we work so very hard for, our new trailer, fishing boat, deck boat, 4 wheeler, seasonal lot at the lake (our redneck vacation home!) :B
RE: Put her to sleep today
It's going to be a long cold winter :(. It was tough to winterize and pull the slide in (seasonal spot). We hope to make it out for a few nights this winter, no water at the campground but we bring the porti potty :o
RE: Water Heater Question
We always leave it on the whole time, it doesn't seem like it uses much propane at all. We ran on one tank all summer. We have a seasonal spot so we're there almost every weekend April-October. I like to have hot water whenever I need it, with little ones that's often, but that's just my personal preference, to each his own.
RE: winterize question
Thanks everyone, I picked up a hand pump yesterday just in case we need it. And CampinDeb thank you VERY much for the water heater bypass info, we were worried about finding that. I forgot we have the same model, excellent info. Thanks again!
